Chelsea will be seeking to rebound after a 5-3 loss to Liverpool, which was certainly an entertaining game for neutrals, but not what Frank Lampard wanted heading into their final match of the season. The Blues will be hosting sixth-placed Wolves, who are unbeaten in their last three Premier League matches are looking good to secure a Europa League berth for themselves. Chelsea, for their part, are in fourth, and will want to naturally pick up all three points from this game especially with fifth-placed Leicester taking on third-placed Manchester United at the same time on Sunday.
Although technically, Chelsea could lose this game and still qualify for the Champions League, they won't want to do that because then they'd need the Red Devils to do them a bit of a favor and beat the Foxes. A draw would also need them to rely on Manchester United to beat Leicester. So, obviously, Lampard's men will look to wrap up the 2019/2020 season on a winning note ahead of their FA Cup showdown against Arsenal next week.
Of major concern for the Blues, however, is their leaky back-line, which has led to the team losing tow of their last three Premier League games. Although they scored three times against current Premier League title winners Liverpool, they conceded five times. And more disconcerting was their heavy 3-0 loss to newly promoted Sheffield Unied a fortnight ago in a very poor showing from the London giants. Overall, in their past three games, they've conceded eight times, while scoring four. It goes without saying that Chelsea will be looking to make some big improvements in defense - and between the posts - during the summer transfer market in order to bolster the squad's competiveness on all fronts for the upcoming season.
Chelsea: N'Golo Kante is a huge doubt for this game as the French star continues to battle his way back to fitness following a hamstring injury. Youngster Billy Gilmour is a definte absentee following surgery, while Fikayo Tomori also remains out.
Wolves: No major injury or suspension problems for Nuno ahead of his team's trip to Stamford Bridge.
