Brentford take on Swansea while Fulham face Cardiff City in the battle to make the Championship Playoff Final and a ticket to Wembley. Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming fixtures.

The Championship Playoffs are upon us! With the 2019/20 season having just ended, England's second division will now move on to the stage that decides the third and final team to get promoted to the Premier League.

Leeds United, having won the title, earned automatic promotion, as well as West Brom, who finished the season as runners-up. The teams that finished in third to sixth will now head into the playoffs, which kicks off with a two-legged semi final from July 26 to July 30 before the final at the Wembley Stadium on August 4. Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming games.

Championship Playoff semi-final fixtures

As per the rules, the league's third-placed team face the sixth-placed side while the clubs that finish in fourth and fifth face-off in the semis. Here are the match-ups for the penultimate stage:

  1. Swansea vs Brentford

  2. Cardiff City vs Fulham

Brentford, unfortunately, missed out on automatic promotion after suffering a defeat against Barnsley on the final day. As a result, they must now overcome sixth-placed Swansea and one of either Cardiff City or Fulham in order to participate in the Premier League next season.

Fulham, who finished in fourth, also had a shot at automatic promotion but theirs was an outside chance. The Cottagers will be aiming to return to the top-flight only one year after being relegated. It should be noted that both of these playoff matches will be played over two legs, with Swansea City and Cardiff City boasting the home advantage in the first leg.

Talking points ahead of the playoffs

Will we see an all-Welsh final?

Given that in each of the two semi-final games, there is one team representing Wales, we could be in for an all-Welsh final at Wembley. What are the odds of this happening, though? One would fancy the odds of Cardiff City going through as they are the in-form Championship club in 2020. They rose from the 14th spot since their managerial change back in November to make the playoffs and will be hopeful of a win over Fulham.

How about Swansea City? They finished in sixth and will face a Brentford side that narrowly missed out on the runners-up spot. While the odds don't stack in the Swans' favor, it should be noted that they have already beaten the odds once in order to make the playoffs as they had to overturn a five-goal swing on the final day in order to leapfrog Nottingham Forest, which they did.

Cardiff midfielder Marlon Pack admits to being excited about the prospect of an all-Welsh final, stating: "What a final it would be if it did happen."

"But we can't get too carried away," the player added, admitting that the focus should be on the semi-finals and not the final, as off now. "We've got two tough games against Fulham and they've got Brentford."

Team news ahead of the Championship Playoff semi-final fixtures - Who's definitely out, in doubt, and suspended?

It should be noted that while these are the list of players set to miss the first leg, some may be available in time for the second leg.

Swansea City: Freddie Woodman, Joe Rodon, and Ben Wilmot are all injured. Kyle Naughton is suspended for the 1st leg.

Brentford: Nikolas Karelis is injured.

Cardiff City: Isaac Vassell and Greg Cunningham are injured.

Fulham: Ivan Cavaleiro is injured. Harrison Reed is suspended for the 1st leg.
