Chelsea receive huge boost in pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen sensation Kai Havertz

All fingers point to the German starlet moving to Stamford Bridge after this recent report.

Chelsea have received a huge boost in their pursuit of Kai Havertz, the Bayer Leverkusen sensation whose 2019/20 exploits garnered the attention of Europe's elites. According to BILD, the attacker is ready to join the Blues and seeks a meeting with his employers in order to communicate his desires.

The London giants are set for a busy transfer window, with Lampard keen on rebuilding the squad after last year's transfer ban. With both Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner completing a Stamford Bridge move, the Premier League heavyweights now have their eyes set on their next target.

It was initially suggested that Havertz would wait to see whether Chelsea secured Champions League football for next season before making a decision as the EPL's top-four race will only be decided on the final day. However, this does not seem to be the case, as per Germany's famous tabloid.

Taking to Twitter, Christian Falk, head of football for BILD, wrote: "Chelsea and Havertz update: When the training starts again on Thursday, Havertz wants to talk with his club. His request: bosses should let him go to Chelsea." The player is said to have spoken with Lampard, which is another added bonus to Chelsea's transfer plan.

This goes without saying, but the 21-year-old won't come cheap. The German sensation could cost more than $115M with add-ons included. Bayern Munich were initially tipped as the favorites but the Bundesliga champions appear to have bowed out of this race. Real Madrid, another interested European elite, are said to have done the same, all but clearing the path for a Stamford Bridge move.

It will be interesting to see what could come of this pursuit should the Blues fail to finish in the top four as they boast a mere one-point advantage over third-placed Leicester and fourth-placed Man United. The London outfit have two tricky games remaining to seal their spot in the Champions League, the first being today's trip to Liverpool. After that comes a showdown with Wolves on the final day.
