The Red Devils could take their unbeaten run in all competitions to 16 when they welcome the Cherries to Old Trafford.

Preview

Manchester United will be aiming to keep up their remarkable form with yet another win when they welcome Bournemouth to Old Trafford on Saturday. The Red Devils were almost unplayable prior to the suspension of the Premier League and have picked up from where they left things following the restart.

The Old Trafford outfit approaches the weekend's fixture on the back of an incredible 15-game unbeaten run across all competitions. Earlier this week, a 3-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion steered Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side on course to reduce the point deficit between them and third-placed Leicester City to just three. Two points now separate the 13-time Premier League champions and fourth-placed Chelsea who were dealt a shock 3-2 defeat in their mid-week encounter with West Ham United.

In a broader perspective, Manchester United have been undefeated in all four league games played after the season was restored. Perhaps, the most remarkable piece of statistic to sum up their impressive form is that they have conceded just four goals in their last 15 appearances, three of which were recorded in two of their last four matches.

Putting the weekend's clash into perspective, the Red Devils will hope that their domineering run can be extended by grabbing revenge over a Bournemouth team that ran away with a 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture earlier this season. A win over the Cherries will result in the club demoting Chelsea to fifth ahead of their clash with Watford later in the day.

For Bournemouth, their recent form hints at the prospective manifestation of United's objective to win. The resumption of the league has not been particularly kind to Eddie Howe's men who are still chasing their first win across all competitions in over five months.

Of their last 10 appearances, they have registered just two wins, none of which came in any of their last seven outings. Those have been characterized by one draw and six losses. Bournemouth sit in 18th with 27 points and are just a point away from 17th-placed Watford.

A surprise win against United would be enough to put them in a more suitable standing with clashes with Spurs, Leicester, Manchester City and Everton all in the pipeline.

Team news

Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe are the only members of the Manchester United first-team out with injuries. Head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to field the same starting line up that excelled in Tuesday's win over Brighton.

For Bournemouth, striker Callum Wilson will be unavailable as he serves the second of his two-match ban for picking up 10 yellow cards in the course of the season. Bar Simon Francis and Charlie Adams who are recuperating from respective knee injuries, there are no other players out of contention for the weekend's game.

Possible starting lineups

Manchester United: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw; Pogba, Matic; Greenwood, Fernandes, Rashford; Martial.

Bournemouth: Ramsdale; Stacey, Mepham, Ake, Smith; Brooks, L. Cook, Lerma, Gosling, Stanislas; King.

Key stats
