The Spaniard wants out of the Allianz Arena and Liverpool are said to be the favorites to land him, but Barcelona could challenge the Reds for his signature.

Liverpool might have missed out on one Bundesliga talent in the form of Timo Werner, with the RB Leipzg ace agreeing to join Chelsea, but the Reds appear destined to sign another this summer. That man is Thiago Alcantara, the Spanish maestro who looks set to leave Bayern Munich once the season ends.

The Brazilian-born midfielder, who joined the German giants from Barcelona back in 2013, is into the final year of his Allianz Arena contract. Die Roten had been confident of tying him down to a new deal after securing their eighth Bundesliga title in a row. However, according to Bild, Thiago has ended talks with his employers, with his team-mates now expecting him to depart from the club once the transfer window open.

Speculation is the Spaniard wishes to challenge himself in another league and his next destination could be the Premier League. The Reds, who are set to end their 30-year wait for the English top-flight crown, are said to be interested in Thiago, with Jurgen Klopp being a huge admirer of the Spaniard.

While the likes of Henderson, Wijnaldum, Milner, Fabinho, Keita, and Chamberlain have all played crucial roles in the middle of the park in Liverpool's near-impeccable campaign, none of those men scream midfield maestro as Thiago does. Unfortunately, bringing the 29-year-old to Anfield will not be so straight-forward as they could face competition from his former club, Barcelona.

The Blaugrana inserted a buyback clause worth $28M should they desire to bring him back to Camp Nou. The Catalan giants are said to be on the lookout for midfielders, with Arthur rumored to be on his way to Juventus and Rakitic being forced out the door. Thiago could be the ideal addition but Barcelona will have to fend off interest from the almighty Liverpool.
