The Portuguese ace scored his team's opening goal, writing his name in Italian top-flight history along the way.

On Monday, Juventus resumed their 2019/20 Serie A campaign, taking on Bologna in their first Italian top-flight game since the league was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This tie came shortly after their Coppa Italia final defeat at the hands of Napoli but unlike that unfortunate encounter with Gattuso's side, Cristiano and Co. were able to beat their opponents this time around.

The Bianconeri brushed aside their opposition, marching to a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Ronaldo and Dybala. Both goals came in the first half, with the Portuguese icon breaking the deadlock via a penalty before his Argentine team-mate doubled the Old Lady's lead.

Not only did this result see Cristiano's side temporarily move four points ahead in the standings, but the five-time Ballon d' Or winner also set a league record. After scoring the opener, the 35-yer-old took his overall goal tally in the Italian top-flight to 43, overtaking Rui Costa as the leading Portuguese scorer in Serie A history.

Ronaldo, who is no stranger to smashing records wherever he goes, has already surpassed his goalscoring tally from last season, which was 21. His penalty against Bologna took him to 22 strikes in the Italian top-flight, which is an impressive number, but he unfortunately still trails Ciro Immobile (27 goals) in the Italian Golden Boot race.

Regardless, the most significant part of Monday's game was the win. The attacker took to Instagram, the social media platform he rules, making a celebratory post after their much-needed victory. "Important victory!" the Portuguese icon wrote, and he was not wrong.
