Premier League action continues with Chelsea vs Man City on NBC Sports being the headline midweek fixture
The first full Premier League Matchday since the COVID-19 suspension kicked off on Friday and will wrap up on Monday with Man City's clash with Burnley. Round 31 commences the following day, on Tuesday, with the headline fixture from the midweek action being the Citizens' trip to Chelsea on Thursday, live on NBC Sports, Universo, Telemundo Deportes En Vivo, and SiriusXM FC for fans in the US.
This is an exciting showdown for one reason and one reason only: the top four race. While Man City have not mathematically earned a top four finish, they are destined to be this season's runners-up. Chelsea, on the other hand, sit in the fourth and final Champions League spot, boasting a five-point lead over fifth-placed Man Utd, but cannot afford to drop points and allow the Red Devils as well as Wolves and Sheffield slash that gap. In their previous encounter this season, Lampard's side ended up losing 2-1 to Guardiola's crew but Thursday will give them a shot at revenge.
The other key game in the English top-flight this midweek is Man United vs Sheffield. Both sides failed to win their first games back, with the Red Devils drawing 1-1 with Tottenham and the Blades losing 3-0 to Newcastle. Should Chelsea slip up against Man City, which is a huge possibility, one of these two sides could bolster their hopes of making the Champions League.

And finally, Arsenal will be taking on Southampton after back-to-back defeats at Man City and Brighton. This game, which will be live on NBC Sports and SiriusXM FC in the United States, will be their third consecutive away fixture but hopefully, for the Gunners, not their third straight defeat. Atalanta and Lazio lock horns in top-four Serie A showdown while Barcelona face another tricky La Liga test
Serie A made its much-welcomed over the weekend and will carry on into the midweek. Milan and Juventus will be in action on Monday, taking on Lecce and Bologna respectively. On Tuesday, Napoli, fresh off their Coppa Italia victory over Cristiano and Co, will be taking on seventh-placed Hellas Verona who are only one point and one spot behind Gattuso's men.
The standout fixture, however, is Lazio's trip to Atalanta on Wednesday, which will be aired live on ESPN for fans in the USA. The league's second-placed team will be visiting the club that currently occupy the fourth and final Champions League spot in what should be a thrilling encounter. Given that Juventus will be in action two days earlier, Immobile and Co. could enter this crucial tie with more pressure or drive. If the Old Lady win, then Lazio would find themselves four points behind and in risk of losing ground in the title race. Should Sarri's side slip up on Monday, then the opportunity to leapfrog the Bianconeri into the top spot would present itself to the Eagles.
In Spain, all eyes will be on Barcelona after surrendering the lead to Real Madrid in the previous round. The Blaugrana drew 0-0 with Sevilla and are now level on points with Los Blancos but trail their rivals due to their inferior head-to-head record. Their next opponent will be Athletic Club, who are ninth in the table and a tricky side to face. Sevilla and Villarreal will face off in a battle to make Europe while Real Madrid will take on relegation-battling Mallorca.
