Cavani ends spell at PSG without playing CL

Cavani set to miss UEFA CL after snubbing contract extension

June 20, 2020 By Oscar Rojas
The Uruguayan has made a final decision regarding his future, and he is not willing to postpone his involvement with another club.

PSG's coach Thomas Tuchel will not have Edinson Cavani around when the team returns to the UEFA Champions League, as the Uruguayan has decided to put an end to his spell at the French club.

The team's all-time top scorer has agreed to end his current deal with the club without adding an extension that would have allowed him to play the next stage of the UEFA Champions League. According to Marca, Cavani is not willing to postpone the next step in his career, and extending his deal at Parc des Princes would have a negative effect in his plans.

"El Matador" has been tempted by Atlético Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester United, and MLS' new team, Inter Miami, to continue his career. While he has not decided where he will carry on playing, some reports suggest that his next team could very well become one of the aforementioned ones.

Cavani will put an end to a successful stint at Parc des Princes, which saw him win six Ligue 1 titles, four Coupe de France trophies, five Coupe de la Ligue titles, and four Trophee des Champions. Added to that, he will call it quits from the French club as their top scorer, having found the back of the net 200 times.
