The Spaniard admitted that the Citizens have tried but failed to agree a new deal, with the attacker informing the club of his desire to leave.

Pep Guardiola has confirmed what the rumors have been saying for ages: Leroy Sane wants out. The Man City ace has long been linked with an Etihad Stadium exit, with the Spanish coach announcing that the German attacker has conveyed to the club his desire to leave.

The former Schalke sensation is into the final year of his contract. The Premier League giants have made attempts to extend his deal, but according to Pep, the 24-year-old has turned down two to three offers from the Citizens, all but sealing his fate at the club.

Sane, who has been a crucial figure in Guardiola’s Etihad Stadium reign, grew frustrated at the club after seeing him playing time diminish last season. He now desires only one thing and that is to return to the Bundesliga, with Bayern Munich being his target destination.

The player has informed the German champions of his readiness to move to the Allianz Arena. Man City, having seen their attempts to extend his stay rejected, are now ready to sell the winger but the Citizens will not let him go for cheap. As stated by the manager, if the Bundesliga giants fail to reach a financially-reasonable agreement with the club, Sane will remain in Manchester until next June and see out his contract.

“Leroy has said he doesn't want to extend the contract,' Pep Guardiola said (as per the Daily Mail)”. “He wants to leave. That will either happen this summer or when he is out of contract.

“The club spoke to Leroy two or three times to extend his contract. He rejected. He wants to play at another club.

“If at the end of the season both clubs arrive at an agreement then he'll leave, if not then he'll stay one more year and then leave at the end of his contract.”

Guardiola also echoed his disappoint over how Sane’s contract situation has unfolded, admitting that he desired to see the German remain with the club. However, the attacker, who is yet to play for Man City this season after suffering a serious injury during the Community Shield, will not be forced to stay if his heart is elsewhere.

“I'm so disappointed,' Pep added. “When we make an offer to a player, it is because we want him. We tried before the injury, we tried after. He has other wishes and I understand.

'We want players who want to play with this club, players who commit to try to achieve targets but of course we respect him. I have nothing against him but he decided he wants another adventure for his career. We are going to count on the players who want to stay here.”

It will be interesting to see if Sane will play a role in the remainder of this season, having returned from his long injury layoff. Man City returned to action in the Premier League on Wednesday, beating Arsenal 3-0, and will be back on Monday for an away clash vs Burnley.
