The French striker scored the first and last goals for Real Madrid as they keep up their pursuit of Barcelona in the domestic competition.

Karim Benzema may have failed to score in Real Madrid's first game after the coronavirus pause, but he sure made up for it with his brace against Valencia.

The French striker scored right before the 60th-minute mark and in after 86 minutes to help Los Blancos earn three more points, and he did so in stylish fashion with a delightful finish for that last goal.

Benzema capped an impressive counter-attack led by Casemiro, who stole the ball with a fine tackle in front of Los Blancos' box. Ferland Mendy handed the ball to Kroos, who found Asensio on the right flank. Asensio would go inside the box to hand Benzema an assist with the outer part of his boot, and Benzema kept the ball in the air with a cheeky flick and an impressive left-footed shot.

If the beauty of his goal was not enough reason for Benzema to celebrate, that goal saw him becoming the fifth best striker in Real Madrid history, surpassing Ferenc Puskas' tally of 242 goals. On top of that, he is now the fifth best striker for Los Blancos in La Liga after matching Hugo Sánchez's tally of 164 goals in the domestic competition.
