The pair secured remarkable milestones by getting on the scoresheet in Tuesday's league fixture.

Barcelona's Lionel Messi and Ansu Fati have landed respective La Liga feats for their contribution in Tuesday's victory over Leganes. The pair was on target as Los Blaugrana's ended the night with a 2-0 victory.

The Matchday 29 encounter was mostly characterised by player's inefficency in attack, with players proving to be less clincal than expected. In a match in which Barcelona and Leganes landed single shots on target in the first half, Fati ensured that his side's own counter more inside the 41st minute.

The La Masia academy graduate, surrounded by a host of opposition players, managed to find space to fire home from the edge of the penalty area. In essence, the goal took Fati's tally for the league season to five, making him the second youngest player (17 years and 229 days) to get as many goals in the competition's history in the 21st century. Former Barcelona starlet Bojan Krkic holds the record, having managed the same goal tally at the age of 17 years and 201 days.

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi put the game to bed in the 69th minute by scoring from a spot-kick. In what was the 33-year-old superstar's 699th career-goal, he successfully tied with Real Madrid legend HUgo Sanchez as the players with the second highest number of penalty goals in La Liga (56). Arch-rival of the Argentine star Cristiano Ronaldo sits atop the list with 61 goals.
