Speaking of Leo, one advantage the halt in play had for the team is the much-needed rest for La Pulga. In the games leading up to the suspension, the maestro was not his usual self, failing to score in five of his last seven Primera Division outings. There was speculation that the six-time Ballon d'Or winner was playing through pain and upon returning to training, the Argentine icon picked up an injury. However, it has been confirmed that it was nothing more than a minor knock, with the 32-year-old reportedly set to take to the field in Saturday's trip.

As for Mallorca, they are currently in the relegation zone and in dire need of points. The hosts are 18th in the standings and could jump to 16th should they pull off an upset and beat Barcelona. For this to occur, both 17th-placed Celta Vigo and 16th-placed Eibar would need to lose their respective fixtures. The earlier will be facing Villarreal this weekend; the latter will be visiting Real Madrid on Sunday.

Team news: Mallorca vs Barcelona

Mallorca: The hosts have no fresh concerns. Abdul Rahman Baba and Leonardo Koutris, who are both long-term absentees, remain on the sidelines and will be joined by Lumor Agbenyenu.

Barcelona: The official communication is that Lionel Messi is fit to play. However, it will be interesting to see whether the iconic Argentine will be named in the starting lineup or on the bench, given that Mallorca are a relegation-fighting side. Luis Suarez has returned to training but this tie comes too early for the Uruguayan. Dembele remains injured while Lenglet is suspended.
