Napoli hold a slim 1-0 lead after the first leg, but Inter still have hope of making it to the 2020 Coppa Italia finals as the two battle for a coveted spot on Saturday, June 13th.

Preview: Napoli vs Inter

Napoli come into this match in a good patch of form. After a shock loss to Lecce back in February, the Partenopei went on a five game unbeaten streak across all competitions. That included holding Barcelona to a one-all stalemate in the Champions League, and more important, earning a narrow 1-0 win over Inter in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-finals tie.

However, football then went on a long pause due to the COVID-19 outbreak in Italy, meaning that Gennaro Gattuso's men had to wait three months before returning to the pitch. Napoli are currently in sixth place in Serie A, a whopping six points behind Roma and nine behind Atalanta, who occupy the last Champions League spot. Winning the Coppa Italia at least would guarantee them a European football spot, regardless of where they end up finishing at the end of the Serie A season and be the upside of an otherwise rather disappointing campaign for the Southern Italian club, who had hoped to at least make a push for the Scudetto this term.

Meanwhile, Antonio Conte's Inter have fallen well behind in the Scudetto race despite an excellent start. This naturally will be bitterly disappointing to the ex-Juventus boss and Nerazzurri fans, as the Scudetto battle has now become a two horse affair between not surprisingly, Juventus, but quite surprisingly, Lazio. While Inter are not yet fully out of it, they are nine points behind Juventus - albeit they do have a game in hand. That being said, they went into the three month pause on a losing streak in Serie A, suffering back to back losses to both Juventus and Lazio, but booked their ticket to the next round in the Europa League after seeing off Eastern European oufit Ludogorets.

However, after losing 1-0 to Napoli at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Inter have a small mountain to climb in the second leg on Saturday. Should the tie finish scoreless, their chance at winning this trophy will go up in smoke, and it will be Napoli who will be on to the finals to take on the winner of the Juventus vs. AC Milan tie on June 17th.
