The league leaders suffered their third defeat of this campaign in the first game of the restored season.

FC Porto has been dealt a heavy blow in their chase of the Portuguese Primeira Liga title following Wednesday's defeat to Famalicao. The Dragons were subjected to a 2-1 loss by the new entrants and could lose their top spot should Benfica win tomorrow.

In what was an action-packed first 45 minutes, both Famalicao and Porto failed to break the deadlock. However, the former changed the narrative in the early minutes of the second half, thanks to Fabio Martins' stunner.

Inside the 74th minute, Jesus Corona became the first player in Sergio Conceicao's team to score after the Portuguese league resumed from the coronavirus hiatus. The attacker's goal lasted for just four minutes as Pote grabbed the match decider to condemn the visitors to their first defeat in seven games. The last time they lost in the league was against Sporting Braga in January.

Wednesday night's result sees Porto remain in first place with 60 points. Should Benfica defeat Tondella at home on Thursday, the Dragons will be demoted to the second position and will be two points behind their fiercest rivals.
