EPL confirms return date with two games

Premier League finally confirms return date with two games

May 28, 2020 By Oscar Rojas
The English top-flight has finally decided when the tournament will resume next month.

May 28 will go down in history as the day in which the Premier League and its clubs agreed on a return date for the 2019-20 season to resume. After a pause that lasted over three months, the English top-flight will continue the ongoing campaign in just 20 days, with two games kicking things off during the second half of June.

Initially, Premier League execs and its teams had agreed to go back to action on June 12, but given the first COVID-19 tests performed on players and staff, everyone involved on this matter agreed to push the date back to June 20. Nevertheless, all action will kick off on June 17, with Manchester City hosting Arsenal and Aston Villa playing against Sheffield United at Villa Park.

Both these games have huge implications in the outcome of the league, as Arsenal and Sheffield United are both fighting for a spot in the UEFA Europa League. Furthermore, Aston Villa is entangled in a battle to avoid relegation, and Manchester City is still hoping for a miracle to steal the title away from Liverpool.

Sources close to the talks between teams and Premier League execs revealed that Matchday 30 will kick off on June 20, but all games could kick off one day earlier, as there are plans to have the game between Tottenham and Manchester United being played on June 19. Be that as it may, we urge you to check our dedicated Premier League competition page at for further details and kick off times.
