Transfer: Juventus sets sights on EPL striker

Juventus targets EPL striker as potential $55M replacement for Higuaín

May 19, 2020 By Oscar Rojas
The Argentine striker seems to be living his final days with the bianconeri, as negotiations have already begun between the two clubs.

Juve fans have repeatedly said that the bianconeri need younger players to keep their dominance in the Italian top-flight, and one of those much-needed reinforcements may be arriving in the next transfer window.

Gonzalo Higuaín is one of those footballers who has been named as a potential transfer, and given the player's age (he will turn 33 in December) and his recent problems in making it back to Italy after the coronavirus pandemic have seemingly been two crucial aspects that have forced the bianconeri hierarchy to search for his replacement.

According to reports by A Bola and Tuttosport, the Italian side has set their sights on Mexican striker Raúl Jiménez, currently playing for Wolverhampton. The former Atlético Madrid, Benfica and Club América ace has been impressive for the Wolves in his two seasons at the Molineux, and the club's asking price for his services is quite appealing for the Italian club.

The Mexican striker has been linked recently to Manchester United and with a return to Atlético Madrid, the place where he started his European adventure.

Jiménez has scored 39 goals for the English side since his arrival in 2018. His overall tally for club and country includes 133 goals, 109 for all his clubs and 24 for Mexico's National Team.

Negotiations are believed to be in the initial stages. Wolverhampton is reportedly asking Juve to pay $55M for their footballer's services, but the bianconeri may be interested on signing the player on a two-year loan. Only time will tell which team's desires prevail in this negotiation.
