The Reds boast a 25-point lead at the top but despite this, many have been calling for the season to be declared null and void.

Much has been said about the 2019/20 Premier League season amid the coronavirus pandemic, with the campaign being suspended due to the virus. Despite Liverpool being well on their way to lifting the title prior to the halt, many argue that the season should be declared null and void if the current crisis prohibits the league from wrapping up.

However, a recent decision made by UEFA has all but cleared the path for the Reds to end their 30-year wait for the English top-flight trophy. European football's governing body announced in a statement that declaring the season null and void is not an option whether the pending campaign can be completed or not.

This means that should coronavirus prevent the 2019/20 term from concluding, then the season would be decided on sporting merit – in other words, a point-per-game system. As explained by the Telegraph, "the results so far will help decide the final placings".

Given that Klopp's side sit 25 points ahead of second-placed Man City, the Reds are destined to lift the title. As for England's European spots for both the Champions League and Europa League, a mini tournament or playoff has been suggested if the season cannot be completed.

This could also be utilized to decide who gets relegated. However, Liverpool would be exempt from this as they have already mathematically confirmed their spot in next season's Champions League. It will be interesting to see whether the likes of Arsenal, Man United, and Tottenham -- three English giants who sit outside of the top four but are in pursuit of a Champions League ticket -- protest this plan. Nonetheless, Klopp's side and their legion of fans can rest assured regarding the title race.
