This former Allianz Arena defender has lifted the lid on one aspect of the Spaniard coach that did not impress him.

Pep Guardiola is hailed as being one of the greatest coaches in history and is labeled one of the best currently – if not the best. However, one former Bayern Munich player has pointed to holes in the Spaniard's managerial skills.

That man is none other than Medhi Benatia, the Moroocan center-back who featured at the Allianz Arena during Pep's reign. According to him, the Man City boss wasn't ideal when striking up relationships with his players.

The North African did hail his former tactician as the best in the world, having enjoyed tremendous success in Spain with Barcelona, in Germany with Bayern Munich, and in England with Man City. However, Guardiola isn't without his flaws.

"He is tactically the best coach in the world, I don't see one better than him," the Al-Duhail defender told Goal.

"But I did not like him very much in [terms of] the relationship with the players, from this point of view he did not impress me."

The 49-year-old is currently in Barcelona, mourning the death of his mother who recently passed away due to coronavirus. It remains unclear when the Spanish tactician will head back to work as the Premier League – as well as ever other European top-flight bar the Belarusian Premier League – is suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
