PSG preparing massive paycut to their players

PSG set to execute the heaviest paycut in European football

April 9, 2020 By Oscar Rojas
Team owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi supported the idea right from the start in the league, and he plans to do the same with his footballers.

Extreme situations require extreme measures, and PSG's hierarchy is ready to set an example to the world of football with their approach to ease the team's woes during the coronavirus crisis.

According to a report by Le Parisien, PSG is working out a deal with the players to see their wages reduced. Nasser Al-Khelaifi was one of the first execs to adopt this stance in a Ligue 1 meeting, but he had failed to replicate the model with Les Parisiens.

The report by the French newspaper suggests that PSG will cut half of each player's wage, especially since the club has taken a massive loss of over $300M. Negotiations are still underway, but some top-caliber names such as Neymar and Thiago Silva are on board with this decision by the team's hierarchy.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Juventus and Bayern München are among the teams that have negotiated a wage reduction with their players, but none of them has cut their players' wages in half. Only time will confirm if PSG's players take such a heavy paycut, but honestly, it seems like the right thing to do during these complicated times.
