Although finishing the season off is a priority to all of those involved, reality could force the title to be declared vacant.

For the first time since the coronavirus crisis started, the possibility of ending the 2019-20 season in La Liga is being considered.

Those in charge of deciding the fate of the competition are set to hold a number of meetings during the week, and unfortunately, the chance of ending the tournament without a champion grows with each passing day.

In fact, some presidents from La Liga teams have stated that if all games have not started by June 27, then they season should be cancelled.

"If our country is not back on its feet by then, the least important thing of all will be football, and that would see all teams go down in ruins," one of the presidents told Marca.

The possibility of playing games behind closed doors has not been thrown out the window, especially since experts have said that there will be new 'waves' of this disease in the next months. It would be an unnecessary risk to have some man working at a store and handling money to cover our games. We have to take care of everyone," the president added.

If things do improve and the Spanish government clears football teams to go back to their training sessions and games, La Liga execs are plotting to play the rest of the tournament in four or five weeks, with almost every team being forced to play three games a week for a month. It may sound as an impossible feat, but that's La Liga's safest bet in what has turned out to be the most complicated season of all time in the Spanish top-flight.
