There were over 20 teams to choose from in a poll conducted by Marca, which ultimately handed that title to Pep's crew.

Even a Madrid-based newspaper can't hide the truth: the team that won the 2008-09 UEFA Champions League can and must be considered as the best team of all time.

Earlier today, Spanish newspaper Marca started to ask their visitors which team they believed to be the best of all time. The options included teams from all over the world like River Plate, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Ajax and of course, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The results shown by Marca's poll leave no doubt about how fans feel about Barcelona's Golden Era, led by Guardiola on the sidelines and by Messi on the pitch. Before we wrote this article, this team had gathered over 35,000 votes, almosr ten thousand more than its nearest rival.

Barcelona's first treble went down in history and is remembered fondly by fans around the globe.

The second team in this poll is none other than Real Madrid. The team coached by Zinedine Zidane between 2016 and 2018 earned their spot as the runners-up with over 22,000 votes, but not even winning three UEFA Champions League titles in a row were enough to see them top Los Culés as the most praised team ever.

The third place in this ranking was awarded by fans to AC Milan. The team led by Arrigo Sacchi dominated the late 80s with its impressive brand of football, led by the Dutch trio of Ruud Gullit, Marco Van Basten and Frank Rijkaard. This team won two UEFA Champions Cup editions in a row, but that was not enough to see them past the two Spanish titans, as Sacchi's men just collected over 14,000 votes in Marca's poll.
