Los Colchoneros' massive display against Liverpool

Arsenal and Manchester United seem to be following the footsteps of practically the same players, and this time, the bidding war for one of Atlético's most reliable players is set to start once the transfer window opens.

According to a report by As, both Premier League giants are interested in one of Diego Simeone's men, who is set to end his current deal with Los Colchoneros. Nevertheless, the English duo might have to step up their pursuit of the player, since Atlético's contract extension offer is already in the hands of the player's agent.

That footballer is none other than Thomas Partey, who has played more minutes than any of Atlético's players, bar Saúl Niguez and Jan Oblak. The Ghanaian ace has only been out of the pitch for 16 minutes in the team's last nine games, which should be enough to prove his worth for the club.

Partey's current buyout clause allows most suitors to bid for his services, since they would only have to pay $53M to the La Liga side. But any of the English teams interested in his services will have to be quick to sign Partey, since the new deal offered to the African utility player would double his current clause ($106M).

The footballer has been waiting to sign a contract extension with the Spanish side, as per an interview he gave last month.

"My agent has been talking with the club, but we are still waiting for the kind of offer we want. But if Atlético wants me, then they will surely do an effort to keep me around," Partey said back then.
