Here's a look at the top scorers in each league for 2019/20.

Due to the coronavirus, football has all but been put on hold as the world battles to get this worrisome virus under control. This is true for Europe, the continent which is now the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic; with the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, and Primeira Liga all being suspended for either a specified time or indefinitely.

If the season was canceled, who’d win the European Golden Boot?

The European Golden Boot, or Golden Shoe as it is now called, is awarded to the player with the most coefficient points once the season ends. Each goal scored is assigned points but this differs for certain leagues – this point is important in the case of Erling Braut Haaland.

In Europe’s top-five leagues, each goal is worth two points. It remains unknown what would happen if the season is canceled – whether the award based on the current standings or whether there would be no winner this season. If the earlier is true, then Ciro Immobile would pick up the prize with 54 points – two points for each of his 27 Serie A goals.

In second is Lewandowski with 50 points, two for each of the 25 goals he has scored in the Bundesliga. The Bayern striker is followed by Cristiano Ronaldo and Timo Werner on 42 points each, having scored 21 times for their respective clubs. Haaland, despite scoring 25 times this season, as many times as Lewandowski, is in fifth as 16 of those strikes came in the Austrian league which has a 1.5-point coefficient. Messi, who won the Golden Boot last year, is in 6th with 38 points (19 goals) and would finish outside the top three for the first time since 2014/15.

  1. Ciro Immobile: 54 points (27 goals)
