Higuain breaks self-isolation protocol

Higuaín breaks Juventus' self-isolation protocol amid coronavirus crisis

March 19, 2020 By Oscar Rojas
The Argentine ace was not the only South American player to get on a plane to spend the quarantine period with his relatives.

Italian newspaper La Repubblica revealed today that, despite initial warnings by the club, Gonzalo Higuain decided to skip the team's self-isolation protocol to take a plane and travel to Argentina.

While some might find this decision by Higuaín to be quite reckless, the reason for the Argentine striker to leave Italy is simple: his mother is sick and he wants to spend time with her during these complicated moments.

Higuaín had orders to stay home following Daniele Rugani's positive coronavirus test, and while he followed all protocols last week, he made the trip to Argentina on a private plane and with one more Juve player on board: Rodrigo Bentancur.

Reports in Italy also state that Higuaín proved he has not been infected by carrying with him a certificate issued by a physician, in which he showed he had tested negative for the disease.

Italy is the European country with the most coronavirus cases. Only China, where the outbreak began, has seen more of their citizens being infected and eventually dying than in the European country.
