Team president Angel Torres revealed that his team is ready to accept the consequences of such decision.

Teams from around the world are ready to go all the way in their attempts to prevent their players from contracting coronavirus, but Getafe's president Angel Torres has set a new standard.

The president spoke to "El Transistor", a popular radio show in Spain, and he denied any interest in making the trip to Milan, one of the cities where the disease has hit the hardest. Furthermore, Torres aimed a dig at UEFA and urged them to change the venue, or else the Spanish side will lose the game by default.

Torres admitted that he'd have to be out of his mind to enter let alone the country, one of the cities where the virus has taken a massive toll of lives.

"Unless there's a drastic change in this situation, Getafe will not be making the trip to Italy. We've asked UEFA to come up with an alternative, whether it is to postpone the game or play the game somewhere else. We don't want to visit one of the cities where the coronavirus is a real problem, we have no need. We have also asked the Spanish Federation for their help, to see if they can demand the match to be postponed," Torres said.

Getafe, currently fourth in La Liga, is also doing quite well in the continental competition, but they are ready to forget about their European dream in order to be safe.

"If we have to lose the tie, so be it. I will not be assuming such a big risk. We are really eager to make an impact in the competition, but if we need to lose the tie so they can grow a conscience, so be it," Angel Torres concluded.

The game, as most UEFA Europa League clashes, is set to take place behind closed doors. It is yet to be seen if Torres' words on this matter force UEFA to change their minds and schedule the clash to be held at a later date.
