Just when fans believed that Real Madrid was going to build up on their El Clásico win, Los Blancos were not able to beat Betis on Sunday evening and surrendered their top spot in La Liga with eleven games to be played.
The Blaugrana side had previously taken over as leaders thanks to their 1-0 win against Real Sociedad, in a game in which some fans believed Lionel Messi should have sent off. Eventually, Messi had a massive hand in the end result by scoring one more goal in La Liga.
Lionel Messi has been directly involved in 31 goals this season for Barcelona in LaLiga:

Speaking about Real Madrid's woes, the man that could be held responsible for their loss is, surprisingly, Karim Benzema. Why? Have a look.

Pichichi race
All three top scorers in La Liga added one more goal to their tally, and even so, Messi is still five goals clear at the top of the charts. How many more will he add?
