A number of records were smashed as the Red Devils cruised to a 2-0 win over their cross-town rivals.

A remarkable performance by Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday saw a number of milestones being attained with the Red Devils securing a 2-0 win over rivals Man City. Goals from Anthony Martial and Scot McTominay proved to be crucial as the Citizens were made to pay for failing to take their chances while committiing a number of defensive errors.

The former drew first blood for the hosts in the 30th minute by combining perfectly with Bruno Fernandes from a free kick. Deep into added time in the second half, McTominay capitalized on a goalkeeping mistake by Ederson to extend his side's lead to two.

In essence, Manchester United completed a league double over Manchester City for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson achieved the feat in the 2009/10 season. That withstanding, the Red Devils have secured a back-to-back wins over their cross-town rivals and Chelsea in the same season for the first time since the 1960-1961 campaign.

For Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Sunday's win made him the first manager ever to win three successive games against Pep Guardiola in a season. The Norwegian coach also joined Antonio Conte and Nuno Espirito Santo as the only three managers to have ever completed a league double against a team managed by Pep Guardiola.

Meanwhile, the City boss managed to set an unwanted record following the day's defeat at Old Trafford. So far, the Citizens have lost seven league matches in all competition, making the 2019-2020 season one in which the Spanish coach has lost the most league games in his managerial career.
