The Reds came back from a goal down to beat the Cherries and set an English top-flight record.

It wasn’t a convincing win given Liverpool’s recent form but the Reds returned to winning ways after suffering back-to-back defeats, beating Bournemouth 2-1 in Saturday’s early kick-off. Furthermore, Klopp’s side made Premier League history along the way.

After suffering 3-0 and 2-0 losses to Watford and Chelsea respectively, the Reds welcomed the Cherries to Anfield with the sole purpose of rediscovering their form. Unfortunately, the found themselves 1-0 down after Wilson netted past Adrian in the ninth minute.

Fortunately for the Merseyside giants, two goals in eight minutes from Salah and then Mane saw the home side march into the lead. This is how things remained until the final whistle.

With this win, Liverpool made English top-flight history. This was their 22nd straight victory at Anfield, shattering the record for more consecutive home wins which previously stood at 21. Interesting fact: the previous record was set by Shankly’s Reds side back in 1972.

Despite this, there is no hiding the fact that this was not a commanding performance from the Premier League leaders. Klopp will need to rekindle the team’s spark ahead of their Champions League round of 16 second-leg clash with Atletico.
