Preview
The fifth round of the FA Cup is upon us and several of England’s top sides will be in action. Unfortunately, all but Man City head into their respective fixtures on the back of disappointing results.
Arsenal will be in action first, visiting Portsmouth after their embarrassing Europa League exit. The Gunners lost 2-1 at home to Olympiakos and bowed out of the competition on away goal. Aubameyang missed a great opportunity to send his side through at the death and probably won’t get the chance to make amends in this game as he looks set to be rested.
The game to watch is definitely Chelsea vs Liverpool. Both sides suffered disappointing results over the weekend and will be keen on bouncing back in this midweek clash. Klopp’s men suffered a shock 3-0 loss at Watford to bring their unbeaten run to an end while Chelsea were held to a 2-2 draw at Bournemouth, another stumble in their top-four race.
Man United is another side battling to qualify for the Champions League but were held to a 1-1 draw at Everton. Derby will be their opponent and it will be interesting to see whether Solskjaer will name a strong squad and exhibit his intentions in this competition.
As for Man City, they were recently crowned as the League Cup champions, beating Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup final. Sheffield Wednesday will face a David vs Goliath task but will give it their all to bring down the Citizens nonetheless.
