The Brazilian forward entered La Liga's history books with his opening goal for Real Madrid.

Brazilian starlet Vinicius Jr broke one of Lionel Messi's El Clasico record by scoring Real Madrid's opener in Sunday's frantic encounter. The 19-year-old sensation fired Los Blancos in front at the Santiago Bernabeu to become the youngest-ever player to score a goal in El Clasico.

It was an evening with mixed fortunes for Vinicius who, despite proving efficient in attack for Zinedine Zidane's side, failed to convert a number of goalscoring opportunities in the first 45 minutes. Nevertheless, the former Flamengo prodigy shook off the blip in the night's performance to step up at the right moment.

With the game locked at 0-0 in the 71st minute, Vinicius finally broke the deadlock by racing into Barca's penalty area and saw his shot deflecting off Gerard Pique past ter Stegen. Real Madrid substitute Mariano Diaz will go on to put the seal the win with first shot in the second minute of additional time.

In essence, Vinicius Jr, at the age of 19 years and 233 days became the youngest player to score in El Clasico in the 21st century, breaking the record previously set by Lionel Messi in March 2007. The Barcelona skipper achieved the feat at the age of 19 years and 259 days.
