The Spanish goalie's howler handed the Toffees the lead in Sunday's Premier League clash.

A shocking blunder by David de Gea proved to be costly for Manchester United in Sunday's Premier League meeting with Everton. The 28-year-old Spanish goalkeeper handed the lead to the Toffees on a silver platter by making a mess of a kick which ended up in his net after hitting Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

With barely three minutes of football action seen, the Red Devils were made to start on the back foot by conceding in a rather odd fashion. The visitors' shot-stopper David De Gea initially received the ball in his penalty area and attempted to play it forward. However, and rather unfortunately, he ended up with the ball in his net after kicking it into Calvert-Lewin who had closed down on him. Watch:

Rather fortuitously, a defensive error and a goalkeeping error - this time on the part of Everton's Jordan Pickford - saw Bruno Fernandes redeem the situation for Manchester United prior to half-time. The Portuguese midfielder smashed home from outside the penalty area for his third career-goal in succession for the Red Devils. Watch:
