The center-back landed an extraordinary feat as the Citizens cruised to a 2-0 home win on Wednesday.

Manchester City center-back Aymeric Laporte has entered the Premier League's history books following his involvement in Wednesday's win over West Ham. The French international featured at the back as Pep Guardiola's side secured a 2-0 home win, making him the first player in the history of the league to get 43 wins in his first 50 outings.

Although the race for the Premier League title is over, Man City put in a strong performance at the Etihad to earn the result that solidifies its position in second. In a game that majorly controlled by the Citizens, Rodri drew first blood for the current league holders by heading home a cross from Kevin De Bruyne in the 30th minute.

However, not much happened up until half-time and the hosts had to wait for another 17 minutes after play resumed for the second-half to celebrate another goal. This time, it was Kevin De Bruyne who got on the score-sheet with a strong finish off his right foot. In essence, the Belgian international's goal sealed victory for the Manchester outfit who moved four points clear of Leicester in second.

On a more personal level, Aymeric Laporte became the sole bearer of a Premier League record he previously shared with three other Premier League greats. With the win over West Ham, the 25-year-old Frenchman became the first player in the history of the English top-flight league to win 43 of his first 50 games. He overtook Ederson, Didier Drogba and Arjen Robben (all with 42 wins from 50 games) in the process.
