The Red Devils attained two milestones with the outcome of Monday's clash with the Blues.

Manchester United entered the Premier League's history books once more following Monday night's 2-0 triumph over Chelsea. Anthony Martial and Harry Maguire scored two headed goals to hand the Red Devils victory in an encounter which was not short of VAR controversy.

Manchester United was fortunate to conclude the game with all 11 players on the field with Maguire having escaped punishment for a red card offense on Michy Batshuayi. Minutes before half-time, Anthony Martial headed the visitors ahead after meeting a perfectly delivered cross from Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The second-half was also not short of drama with Chelsea having goals by Kurt Zouma and Olivier Giroud denied by the video assistant referee. Any hope of a comeback win for the Blues was then squashed with Maguire getting the final goal of the game with a header from Bruno Fernandes' corner-kick.

In essence, Manchester United moved to seventh on the Premier League table and is now just three points away from fourth-placed Chelsea. The win also meant that for the first time since the 1987-88 season, the Red Devils have completed a league double over Chelsea.

It is also the first time the Old Trafford outfit has done so and have kept a clean-sheet since 1964-1965. In contrast, Chelsea has failed to defeat the Manchester outfit in any of the last four meetings between the pair. The Blues have also lost seven home games in all competitions this season, the most they have managed in a single campaign since the 1994/1995 season.
