A number of the Blues supports have bemoaned the referee's decision to keep the English center-back on the field for his offense.

Chelsea fans on social media have voiced their displeasure at referee Anthony Taylor and the Video Assistant Referee for failing to send off Harry Maguire following his challenge on Michy Batshuayi. The Manchester United skipper successfully evaded the red card after an apparent stomp in the Chelsea attacker's groin in Monday night's encounter.

Indeed, a different scenario could have played out between the two rivals at Stamford Bridge had the match referee taken an extreme stance against the English defender. Despite winning a foul after a tussle with Batshuayi in the 21st minute, the former Leicester City centerback appeared to have footed the Belgian striker in the groin while in the process of falling. Upon a numerous protest by the Chelsea players and bench, the incident was briefly reviewed by VAR although Maguire was immediately exonerated.

Maguire went on to score the eventual winner for Manchester United after Anthony Martial had given the visitors the lead. Meanwhile, the decision to keep the England defender on did not sit well among Chelsea fans on social media who believe he should have been sent off immediately.
