According to the Premier League giants, his wage demands were to blame but the player says this is far from the truth.

After seeing how Erling Haaland has begun life at Dortmund, Man United fans can be forgiven for being upset at seeing their club miss out on the teenage sensation. To make things worse, the attacker has revealed that the Red Devils lied about why they missed out on his services.

The Premier League giants, after being heavily linked with the former Salzburg ace, claimed that the player’s wage demands were excessive, forcing the English heavyweights to pull out of negotiations. However, according to the 19-year-old, that’s far from the truth.

He laughed off claims that his terms were unacceptable in a recent interview with Viasport. Haaland insists that he turned down an Old Trafford move for footballing reasons, confessing that the Signal Iduna Park was “the best option” despite passing out on the opportunity to work under Solskjaer again, his coach at Molde.

"Ole has been very important for me in getting to where I am today," Haaland said. "But we concluded that Dortmund was the best option for me.

"That was where I felt best about, and therefore it became Dortmund."

When asked again if his demands were outrageous, the teenager said: "No, it's the guys writing would have to speak to that.

"They'll have to explain it to me if they meet me. It's not my focus, whatsoever.

"It's kind of comical if I were to get that label. All the people closest to me know that's not the kind of person I am."

Since joining Dortmund, Haaland has been nothing but amazing. The Norwegian forward has scored eight goals in only five appearances, averaging a goal every 34 minutes so far.

Man United, meanwhile, opted for the last-ditch loan signing of Odion Ighalo, who could make his debut this Monday when the Red Devils resume their Premier League game with a trip to Chelsea.
