Liga MX - Team news and key games in Matchday 6 of the Clausura 2020 tournament

February 13, 2020 By Oscar Rojas
León is holding on to their lead, but a tough trip to San Luis could change things in the Mexican top-flight. Here's all you need to know about the next nine games in Liga MX.

We have made it to Matchday 6 in the Clausura 2020 tournament, and as incredible as it may seem, the defending champions are still looking for their first win.

Even if that's a bit baffling, the leading clubs in this competition will have to deal with some tough opponents to keep things as they are. In fact, the league-leading León will kick off all the action when they visit San Luis, one of the tournament's most surprising teams.

As for those trying to catch up with the team in green, Pumas will visit Toluca in an unusual Saturday clash (Toluca usually plays at home on Sundays). Los Diablos have earned most of their points when time is about to expire, and it wouldn't be a surprise if this game was also decided in the final minutes. Elsewhere, Juárez will make a trip to Monterrey, where they will try to deepend the champions' woes. Last, but not least, América will try to climb back to the top three when they host Atlas.

Matchday 6 will begin on Friday with a couple of games. Saturday will be packed with action, as five games are scheduled to take place after Valentine's Day. Two games will bring the end of this weekend with two games, including one of the best matchups of the upcoming days.

Here's all you need to know before Matchday 6 of the Clausura 2020 tournament kicks off.

Guadalajara vs Cruz Azul

This will be a tricky match between two of the league's "Big Four". Guadalajara is aiming to end all the crisis talk, and Cruz Azul wants to confirm their good form of recent games. Winning this game seems crucial for both sides, especially for the hosts, who have seen the pressure piling up on their coach, Luis Fernando Tena.

Santos Laguna vs Tigres UANL

This has been one of the most exciting games during the past decade, but this clash seems to get in an awkward time for the hosts, who have only been able to win one of their five games. As for Tigres, their eighth place doesn't seem to honor their reputation as one of the best teams in the league. So, why are we recommending this match? Because you can't overlook the quality included in these squads, and maybe this will be the game in which their skills chip in to give fans watching their money's worth.
