The Bianconeri forward entered the Serie A's history books once again but saw his side suffer a shock defeat.

35 years old and still breaking records! There was a mild ray of sunshine in what was a gloomy day for Juventus with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring the Old Ladies' only goal in Saturday's shock 2-1 defeat to Hellas Verona.

The Bianconeri saw itself at the end of a disappointing result whose impact on the Serie A table could be huge. Despite taking the lead in the night's encounter, the Turin outfit lost grip at the latter stages to pick up its third defeat in the league campaign this season.

Following a drab first-half action, life was injected into the game in the early stage of the second half and it was none other than Cristiano Ronaldo who fired Maurizio Sarri's men in front. The former Real Madrid ace who celebrated his 35th birthday a fortnight ago played a quick one-two with Bentancur on the half way line before racing to the opponents half to bury home a low strike after shaking off the challenge of the last defender.

11 minutes after the Portuguese striker's 65th minute goal, Fabio Borini got the equalizer for Hellas Verona. Giampolo Pazzini then sealed the win in the 86th minute with a spot-kick after Leonardo Bonucci had handled the ball in his side's penalty box.

In essence, the night's loss could see Juventus tying on points with Inter Milan should the Nerazzurri secure a win in Sunday's Milan derby. Antonio Conte's men currently have 51 points from 22 games as compared to the Bianconeri's 54 from 23.

Needless to say, it was a historic day for Cristiano Ronaldo as he became the first player in the history of Juve to score in 10 successive Serie A games. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner previously shared the record with David Trezeguet after the Frenchman managed to score in nine consecutive league fixtures 14 years ago. Should the former score respectively in the next two games, he will break the all-time longest scoring streak record held by Argentina-great Gabriel Batistuta (11).

Still on personal milestones, Cristiano Ronaldo's goal against Hellas Verona took his tally for the season to 20 in 20 matches. He resultantly achieved the feat of scoring 20+ league goals in each of his last 11 seasons.
