The Gunners coach blamed the long grass for their lack of fluidity at Turf Moor on Sunday, with the Clarets now poking fun at the Spaniard.

After Arsenal’s 0-0 draw at Burnley in the Premier League, Mikel Arteta got ridiculed for his explanation as to why his team struggled to play the ball to their hearts’ desire, blaming the length of the grass. Burnley have now jumped on this bandwagon, poking fun at the Spaniard.

Despite a bright start at Turf Moor, the Gunners quickly found themselves unable to play through the midfield, find pockets of space, and assert their dominance over the Clarets. In fact, the north London giants had only one real opportunity to score in the second half but were fortunate not to concede.

When speaking to reporters in the post-match press conference, the former Man City assistant stated that “the grass was long” and that Burnley “didn’t put any water on it”. The Clarets have now taken to Twitter to troll the Spaniard.

The club changed their header to a picture of an unevenly mowed grass. Burnley even responded with a wink emoji when one fan took note of the new header.

Arsenal will need to put excuses aside when they return to action in the Premier League. The north London giants have drawn their last four league games and are 10th in the standings, level on points with Burnley, Newcastle, and Southampton while sitting only seven points above the relegation zone.
