The Utah Royals FC forward grabbed a lovely brace, but saved the best goal for last.

Monday saw the United States women’s national team wrap up their CONCACAF Women’s Olympics Qualifying Championship group stage in emphatic style, beating Costa Rica 6-0 to win their group. While it was an overall dominant team performance, one player, in particular, stole the show.

That lady was none other than Christen Press. The Utah Royals FC forward scored a brace in the midweek thrashing of their Central American rivals, with her second strike wowing the fans.

The 31-year-old broke the deadlock after only four minutes of play, finding the top left corner with an exquisite curling effort from outside the box. However, Press saved the best for last, completing her brace with just under 10 minutes remaining before the break.

The attacker picked up the ball on the left side of the pitch, ran at her marker before beating her with ease, and cut in inside the penalty box before smashing a right-footed effort past the helpless Costa Rican goalkeeper. Check out her golazo in the video below.

Sam Mewis also grabbed a brace in Monday’s victory, scoring twice in the second half, while Horan – netting in between Press’ two goals – and McDonald also got on the scoresheet.

Mewis completed her brace with this header, which the Costa Ricans thought had not crossed the line

USWNT have now moved on to the semi-finals, where they will face the runners up of Group B – either Canada or Mexico. Should the Women’s World Cup champions triumph in the last four, then their ticket to 2020 Olympics in Tokyo would be confirmed.
