The Portuguese talent joined the Red Devils after a prolonged transfer saga and has impressed Solskjaer.

After several frustrating weeks in the January transfer market, Man United finally landed their man when they completed the signing of Bruno Fernandes last Thursday. Since then, the Portuguese midfielder has participated in his first training sessions with his new employers, meaning Solskjaer got a close-up look on their marquee signing.

And Ole was full of praise for the former Sporting CP. Many have made comparisons with Bruno’s move to Old Trafford and that of Cristiano’s, with both being Portuguese talents coming from the same club. However, the coach has likened their January acquisition to another Man United legend: Paul Scholes.

Besides sporting the same jersey as the iconic Englishman – Bruno will wear his famous No.18 jersey – Ole feels he shares several other similarities, from his technical ability to mentality. Solskjaer stated that not only can he assist and score for fun, but he is also “fiery and passionate” like the now BT Sport pundit.

“Cristiano is unique," Solskjaer said, as per the Daily Mail, ahead of Saturday’s clash with Wolves. “We hope that Bruno will have a fantastic career at Man United, but to start comparing him with Cristiano isn't fair on the boy.

“He is a goal-scoring and assisting midfielder, a little bit like Paul Scholes. He can strike a ball fantastically. He has got such a wonderful technique, but he also is going to get assists from set-plays and from his range of passes.

“He is a similar type to Scholesy - fiery, passionate, hates losing and he's got the same number on the back of the shirt.

“I think he is another piece in the jigsaw. I'm sure he will give us that X-factor we've been missing at times this year.

“He can do absolutely everything. He's my size so he probably isn't a target man in the box, but he is such a good footballer.

“He can play in a three-man midfield, as a No.10, off the side and in a diamond. We'll give him time to find his best position.”

After landing Bruno Fernandes, the focus shifted to when he will make his debut. Solskjaer revealed that he could make his debut in the clash with Wolves but could not reveal to what capacity.

“He's fit to play and he will definitely be in the squad,” he added. “He's had a few hectic days now - his little daughter was three-years-old yesterday - so I don't know how much he will be involved.”

Man United also signed Odion Ighalo on loan from China but the Nigerian striker will not be joining up with the squad anytime soon. As a result, Ole must use what is at his disposal to beat Jimenez and Co, who are level with the Red Devils on points, amid a heated top-four race.
