What is the form of Burnley compared to Arsenal?

Burnley head into this clash on their back of their league defeat at the hands of Norwich but the Clarets have won three of their last five games, something Arsenal cannot say. This included a 2-1 comeback victory over Leicester. However, Sean Dyche's side have lost more than half of their last 15 matches – eight to be exact (W7).

Arsenal, meanwhile, are winless in their last three league games. They head into this tie on the back of their 2-1 win over Bournemouth in the FA Cup but have registered only four victories in their last 15 games (D7, L4).

The last time Burnley registered a win over Arsenal was way back in December 2008 in the League Cup. The Clarets' last English top-flight victory over the Gunners came back in September 1974.

Team news

Burnley are seven points clear of the relegation zone and are surprisingly level on points with Arsenal heading into this tie. Unfortunately, they will be without Ashley Barnes, who scored at the Emirates Stadium in the 2-1 loss, and Johann Berg Gudmundsson.

As for Arsenal, they will be bolstered by the return of David Luiz and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The latter has missed the last three games for the Gunners after being sent off in the 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace and will offer a lot going forward.

This will raise questions about Alexandre Lacazette's spot in the starting lineup. The Frenchman's goal drought continues and with Martinelli impressing in Aubameyang's absence, it could be the former Lyon ace to make way for the club captain.

Elsewhere, Kolasinac, Mustafi, and Nelson will be assessed. This game will likely come too soon for Pablo Mari while Cedric Soares, Arteta's other defensive signing in January, is out with an injury.
