The claret and blue army sparked a frenzy at Villa Park with a dramatic late-goal which sealed their spot at Wembley.

A sensational ending to Tuesday's Carabao Cup clash between Aston Villa and Leicester City has set up the former for what could be a another memorable night at Wembley. The epic encounter between the two sides was decided by a late Trezeguet goal which sealed a 3-2 aggregate win for the hosts. '

It was Matt Target who drew first blood in the early minutes to set the tone for Aston Villa. However, with 18 minutes of regulation time left, the goal was canceled by Kelechi Iheanacho who had been denied countless scoring chances by eventual Man of the Match Ørjan Nyland in the Villa goal.

Deep into the 93rd minute of stoppages, Egyptian winger Trezeguet perfectly directed home the cross of his compatriot Ahmed Elmohamady to secure what is Aston Villa's first ticket to a domestic cup final in a decade. Watch the dramatic moment below:

In essence, the defeat for Leicester City ended Brendan Rodgers's incredible run of winning 31 straight domestic cup which was triggered by yet another cup loss to Aston Villa back in 2015. For the latter, Tuesday's victory made it the first professional football club in the history of football to contest a major final in 14 separate decades. The only decades the Clarets and Blues failed to compete in a major final in were the 1870s, 1930s and 1940s.

Dean Smith's side now awaits the winner of Wednesday's clash between Manchester City and Manchester United. The Citizens enter the clash on the back of a 3-1 win at Old Trafford in the first leg.
