Solskjaer offers optimistic Man Utd transfer update as deadline day draws closer

January 25, 2020 By Ali M.
The Red Devils are in need of reinforcements in the attack and midfield but are yet to make a single signing, with only days remaining in the January transfer window.

To say Man United are in need of reinforcements would be an understatement. Given the injuries to Pogba, McTominay, and most recently Rashford, the Red Devils have been robbed of three key players.

The Premier League giants are yet to make a single signing in the ongoing January window, and with the move for Bruno Fernandes hitting a roadblock, fans are worried their club won’t bolster their squad. Fortunately, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has offered an optimistic update.

While the Man United boss did not confirm any incoming players, the Norwegian admitted that they are working on a few deals and is hopeful of getting them over the line. Speaking at a press conference, Ole said (as per Goal):

"It is stretched but we’re getting players back after the break, so we will be better off for it.

"We’re still working on one or two things so let’s see if the club get it over the line."

Although Ole did not mention the one or two things they are working on, the club are reportedly on the lookout for a striker, given the unfortunate double stress fracture Rashford picked up. The Manchester giants have been linked with the likes of Carlos Tevez and Islam Slimani, none of which would inspire the fans.

Regarding Bruno Fernandes, rumors claim the Red Devils have ended negotiations with Sporting CP due to their $88M valuation. The 20-time Premier League champions have now reportedly shifted attention to Birmingham City starlet Jude Bellingham, making a $39M bid for the teenager.
