The Danish playmaker is close to an Inter Milan move, but a late inquiry from Spain could change things.

Christian Eriksen’s move to Inter Milan appears to be all but done, but according to the latest rumors, one Spanish giant have made a last-ditch attempt to hijack this move. As per the Daily Mail, they are none other than Barcelona.

The Blaugrana’s interest in the Danish playmaker is nothing new. It is believed that the Catalan giants initially planned on swooping up the Tottenham ace in the summer for free but have now made a late inquiry after Inter Milan’s advances.

The Serie A giants are set to pay $23M for Eriksen but the Nerrezuri have not yet agreed on a structure for their deal with Tottenham. Despite this, Conte’s side have allegedly scheduled a medical on Monday.

It remains to be seen whether Barcelona’s late inquiry might change things. Spurs simply want to cash in on the 27-year-old as his contract is set to expire this summer. The north London outfit do not wish to lose their playmaker for free, hence their desperation to sell this month.

Eriksen played a key role in Tottenham’s path to the Champions League final last season. This term, however, he has scored only three goals for his employers. The player was initially keen on a move to Real Madrid but interest from Los Blancos no longer exists. With only eight days remaining in the current transfer window, it will be interesting to see how things unfold.
