The Brazilian striker is reportedly close to leaving Real Sociedad for Spurs.

Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur is on the verge of completing a move for Real Sociedad striker WIllian Jose. The 27-year-old Brazilian forward was left out of his side's squad to face Espanyol in Wednesday's Copa del Rey encounter ahead of what could be his switch to North London.

The former Real Madrid reserve player has not done bad for himself following his move to Sociedad in 2016 as he has registered 52 goals in 121 appearances for the club. Back in 2018, the attacker was heavily linked with a move to join Newcastle United but turned down the opportunity in favor of renewing his stay until 2024.

Following Harry Kane's injury earlier this month which has supposedly ended his season with Spurs, Willian Jose was identified by Jose Mourinho as the English striker's direct replacement. According to Spanish news outlet AS, the Portuguese manager's side has tabled a bid far off the player's €70 million release clause put in place by Sociedad.

Needless to say, an agreement is expected to be reached for the transfer of Willian Jose in the coming days followed by a medical before the transfer window closes. The decision to replace the striker with Sociedad B team player Julen Lobete also provides a strong indication of a deal being close.

The Brazilian, who would arrive as Jose Mourinho's second second after Gedson Fernandes, could depart as his team's top scorer this season with eight in 21 games.
