The Bavarians will not exercise purchase option on the Brazilian playmaker.

Bundesliga heavyweights Bayern Munchi have ruled out the prospect of signing Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho permanently after his loan spell. Despite having an obligation to buy inserted in the 27-year-old Brazilian's deal, the Bavarians will allow the midfielder to join his parent club.

Coutinho's inability to impress at Barcelona after joining from Liverpool in January 2018 led to him being shipped off to the Bundesliga. However, what should have been a rejuvenation period for the attacker has turned out otherwise having failed to live up to expectations at the Allianz Arena.

The former Liverpool star's initial loan move from Barca cost the reigning Bundesliga champions €8.5 million with a permanent deal worth €120 million expected to be brokered had the latter been satisfied with his input. Acoording to Wednesday's report by German publication Bild, the Brazilian will be allowed to rejoin Los Blaugrana as the Munich outfit are not willing to spend that much on securing his service this summer.

Since arriving from Spain earlier this season, Coutinho has managed just seven goals in 23 appearances despite being a key member of the Bayern side. On the contrary, Bild has revealed that the German club will turn its attention on recruiting either Bayer Leverkusen's Kai Havertz or Manchester City's Leroy Sané in the summer.
