Bayern München set to sign loan deal for Real Madrid outcast

January 21, 2020 By Oscar Rojas
Die Roten'r hierarchy will pull off a move similar to the one they worked out with Los Blancos involving James Rodríguez a couple of years ago.

Real Madrid has not shown any interest in signing players this winter, but that does not mean they are not ready to part ways with those that have not played that much this season.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference ahead of the clash against Unionistas, Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that Alvaro Odriozola is set to leave the club this winter, in an attempt to recover his lost confidence. Later today, reports in Germany revealed that Bayern München was set to unveil the player tomorrow, pending a medical examination.

The player, according to Zidane, did not even train with his team-mates ahead of the Copa del Rey matchup against the Segunda División B team.

"He has an option to leave the club, so we will wait until it's official. He wants to play, and I can't take someone that's doing a good job to give way for him, I'll tell you that much. Either way, we have to wait and see if he leaves," Zidane said.

Bayern's interim boss Hansi Flick had asked the team's hierarchy for reinforcements, and Odriozola's arrival would solve one of Die Roten's problems this season at right-back. As of now, the Bavarian side is second in the Bundesliga, four points behind RB Leipzig.

Alvaro Odriozola has not been able to establish himself as an alternative for Zidane, who practically erased him from the squad after a disappointing performance against Mallorca in the team's only La Liga loss. The former Real Sociedad footballer has just played 434 minutes this season, and a loan deal would be ideal for a player that has been left out of 17 of the 28 games played by the Spanish giants.
