Mbappe coy on Real Madrid links

PSG star Kylian Mbappe gives coy response to Real Madrid links

January 21, 2020 By Ali M.
The Frenchman was calm when asked about the rumors linking him with a move to Santiago Bernabeu.

The rumors linking Kylian Mbappe with Real Madrid have been around for ages. After moving to PSG and fulfilling his potential, interest from Los Blancos has only increased.

Then came the 2018 FIFA World Cup in which the Frenchman led his nation to the ultimate prize, making him one of the most sought-after forwards. Despite all of this, when recently asked about the links, the 21-year-old remained calm.

The former Monaco ace has dreamt about one day playing for the Spanish giants and while there are speculations of a transfer, Mbappe remained coy about his future. The attacker admitted that this not the right time to discuss his future out of respect to his current employers.

"Everyone talks about it - when I was young, I talked about it too," Kylian told BBC (as per Marca).

"But now I'm a player and I know it's not the moment.

"We are in January - it's the money time of the season. Imagine I answer your question and say something. Everybody will talk about it and it's not good for PSG.

"Now I'm with PSG and I'm 100 percent with the club. I want to help the club grow this season, to win a lot of trophies, so for me it's not good to talk about [my future].

"I think about the club because the club helped me. I came here at 18. I was a talent, but I was not a superstar. Now I'm a superstar, thanks to PSG and the French national team.

"I have to stay calm and stay focused on PSG. After that, at the end of the season, we will see. But now I'm focused on my game."

Rumors claim the Frenchman has refused to sign a new contract at the Parc des Princes, with his current contract set to expire in the summer of 2022. This means PSG might have to choose between cashing big on Mbappe this summer or risk losing his for cheap in 2021 with only a year left on his contract.
