The final match between Real Madrid and Atlético amnaged to gather a record audience for a pay-TV channel.

The Spanish Super Cup was a massive success both on and off the pitch, despite the early criticism it earned once the new format was announced.

The decision to have three games instead of one (including semi-finals and the title clash) paid out for the Spanish Football Federation and their partners, as the mini-tournament averaged 1.43 million domestic viewers per game, according to Palco23.

As expected, the game with the most viewers tuning in was the title match, which reached a total of 2.2 million people watching the game where Zidane's men defeated Los Colchoneros after an excruciating 120 minutes. The average audience during the game was also quite impressive, as Movistar+ reports an average of 1.97 viewers during the game.

Speaking about the semi-finals, the clash where Barcelona lost the chance to play for the cup against Atlético gathered the attention of 1.27M viewers, while the match between Valencia and Real Madrid gathered a bit over 1.05M viewers.

This is a record-breaking event for a Spanish pay-TV network, since the final match's audience is half of what the clash between Barcelona and Sevilla marked on RTVE last year. The audience for this game was the highest for a pay-TV network.
