Los Rojiblancos are looking to recruiting the striker this month.

Atletico Madrid director Gil Marin has met with club officials of Paris Saint-Germain to discuss a prospective transfer for Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani. The Rojiblancos chief traveled to Paris on Tuesday in anticipation of holding groundbreaking talks with the French outfit who seem adamant to part ways with the striker.

A mixture of ill-fortune and controversies has seen Cavani wanting to imminently secure a move away from the Parc des Princes. However, just recently, Les Parisien boss Thomas Tuchel reiterated his desire to see the 32-year-old striker continuing at the club while offering his sympathy to the player who has lost his spot in the starting lineup as a result of Mbappe and Icardi's top form.

Against AS Monaco on Sunday, Cavani was nowhere near the matchday squad, fueling more rumors of his potential exit. Although PSG subsquently issued a statement to reveal the reason for his omission as being associated with a groin injury, many have reason to believe that his days at the club are number.

On Tuesday, Spanish publication AS stated that interest in the player at Atletico Madrid is at an all-time high as the club's general director made a trip to Paris to lay the ground work for negotiations to begin. According to the report, Diego Simeone has identified the striker as the only addition he would welcome at Atletico this winter and, as such, wants to club to secure the signing despite the risk it poses to the wages structure.

Nevertheless, Gil Marin's trip seemingly yielded nothing fruitful with Paris Saint-Germain maintaining its stance that Cavani is not for sale. Meanwhile, the Uruguayan striker is believed to be interested in a move and could potentially force the hand of his current side to sanction his exit.
